Medical Coaches has always received compliments on the styling and unique construction aspects of our custom aluminum bodies. We strongly believe that our customers are paying a significant premium over the cost of a standard freight transporting body; therefore, the custom body they receive must have identifiable improvements.
Our approach to building a body for the 21st Century was based on our research of European techniques and innovations developed
at our facilities. Many European trucks handle significantly greater loads than in the United States. As a result, strong but
light bodies are mandatory.
With this in mind, our engineers developed a specially formed "C" channel longitudinal sections for our sidewall panels. The sections
are held together for their full length with a special high-grade bonding adhesive.
The same bonding principles are used to build aircraft (including the space shuttle), luxury boats, over-the-road trailers, and cars.
Rivets can pull loose, rust, or oxidize; none are required on Medical Coaches' sidewalls. Bonding surface is 100 percent across
the full length, not limited to spacing as in rivets. Toughness, durability, peel strength, and impact resistance of our adhesive
is superior to rivets.
Medical Coaches' sidewall thickness is .080", a full 60 percent thicker than most .050" U.S. custom body sides. The smooth
surface is excellent for installation of graphics. Thicker .080" sides resist dings and dents and can be repaired by welding in
field (.050" sections must be mechanically replaced when damaged).
