Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil and home to the Bombeiros, or Fire Brigade. They are one of the most trusted and respected government agencies in all of Brazil. Medical Coaches recently delivered their first mobile 16-slice, Siemens Somatom CT trailer in February 2009. The mobile will be operated throughout the area of nearly six million people to bring them the latest in advanced CT screening. Many people in very poor areas without any access to this type of high tech medical care will now share the benefits. As you can see, it has been painted fire engine red to match the color of the Bombeiros which has been in existence for over 100 years.

The coach has been designed to withstand some of the toughest road conditions in that area and comply with local laws. It has been outfitted with special air-ride suspension and a mainframe that extends the entire length of the trailer. This provides stability and helps to maintain the table-to-gantry alignment on the CT. The trailer has also been painted with a ceramic roof coating that reflects 99% of the radiant heat it comes in contact with. This special coating helps to control the inside environmental temperatures in the extreme heat.
