Medical Coaches Delivers first CTI Reveal XVI 16 Slice PET/CT Fixed/Mobile System to Massachusetts General Hospital

Medical Coaches engineers in conjunction with CTI Molecular Imaging helped to design one of the most unique products on the market: A Pet/CT Fixed/Mobile Trailer with a 16 slice CT system.

Mass General wanted to have the latest technology at their doorstep, without waiting an extended period of time for the construction of a new building that would house their 16 slice PET/CT system. Therefore, they opted to go with a Medical Coach Mobile unit that will house their system temporarily, until the new building is constructed. At which time the coach will be converted into a fully compatible 6 slice PET/CT trailer.

Here are some reasons hospitals are moving towards the 16 slice PET/CT system:

  • Fastest PET/CT scanner available
  • Whole-body imaging in < 13 minutes on most patients
  • Unmatched patient comfort
  • Premium Image Quality with adjustable pitch
  • High Speed < 0.42 sec/rotation option for reduced respiratory and cardiac artifacts
  • Ultra-fast CT providing more clinical applications

Although the mobile must remain in a fixed location, due to the size of the chilling system, Medical Coaches has taken a unique approach to a very difficult problem. The challenge was to create a trailer that could not only house a 16 slice PET/CT system in a fixed location, but could eventually be converted into a mobile 6 slice PET/CT at a later date.

Medical Coaches has utilized the same specially built trailer platform we use in our large mobile TV production trailers. Most of these trailers have huge, approximately 40' expandable sides. Frame rigidity is an absolute necessity to allow smooth side deployment on all types of terrain.

Our trailer body construction is based on the sound engineering principles developed in the aircraft and Formula One racing car industries. We utilize a special bonding agent (same used on fighter aircraft, over the road trailers and luxury boats) to join our side sections. The resulting bond is stronger than rivets and or welds. Our bodies have the best strength to weight ratios in the industry. Our finished units are 2-3 tons lighter than the competition.

Medical Coaches was happy to work with both Mass General and CTI Molecular Imaging on this exciting project.
